To end this once in a lifetime trip, I made it a point to stop at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. This palace is an absolute must see if you absolutely LOVE The very late Mary, Queen of Scots. While Edinburgh Castle features bits and pieces of Mary, the Holyroodhouse actually has rooms dedicated to Mary. It is also the Queen's official residence when she is in Scotland. Unfortunately, the palace was closed for the duration of our trip as a dignitary was in town. Because of this, the palace was used as an actual castle to house this government official.
Even though I was sad that I was unable to see the palace and Mary's rooms, I appreciated the fact that I was able to see and do a variety of things in both Ireland and Scotland. This trip was truly wonderful and I hope that anyone who so wishes to take a class like this does so. It is worth it as you are given the opportunity to see the world and learn about different cultures.
See you on the flipside!
