Hollie Dickson The eager tourists forgot to blog
A big apoloy goes out to my family and friends back home who are following my blog. Yesterday was such a packed in day that even with some down time I forgot to blog. So now I am going to tell you all about yesterday's adventure. It all started about 10 in the morning when we met outside the hotel and as a group got to explore the old Moray house. We learned that it is the oldest remaining house in the city. I thought it was pretty interesting because the house had a decorated clay ceiling. After exploring the house we ate lunch at a place called Decan Brodie's Tavern which was where the author of the book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde actually got the inspiration for the book. I learned that the author based the book off of a man named Brodie who in my opinion had dissociative identity disorder. After lunch we explored the Scotland National Museum. There we got to split up and look at whatever we wanted. Me and Ethan looked at the animal exhibit and the rock exhibit. They were both pretty neat. I learned that way back in the Jurassic period their was a creature called a giant sloth. I thought that was awesome cause sloths are my favorite animal. After the museum we got to explore the Royal Mile. The Royal Mile is the one mile road that leads up to the Edinburgh castle (which we are exploring today.) The royal mile is linned with shops and people playing music. After I looked around the Royal mile we all got back together and went on a tour of the underground city under the Royal Mile. This by far was my favorite party of the day because I actually got to see where the people were living when the plague hit in 1645. The tour guide on the tour was fantastic and I highly recommend the tour to anyone interested in the darker history of Edinburgh. That about sums up yesterday. Today I have another full day ahead of me so stay tuned for the next chapter of my adventure!
