Day 3- Hillary

Wow, what a day! We got up bright and early, ate some breakfast provided by the lovely Kinarva Guesthouse employees. It was hard saying goodbye to this little village where we stayed and experienced such great hospitality but we have a long ways ahead on our 10 day trip and it was time to travel on.

After leaving Kinvara, we traveled on our tour bus for three hours to Dublin. Dublin is similar to Galway in the sense it is a compact city filled with a lot of young people and things to do. The culture and accents are still something to get used to but I love learning about slang and cultural habits that I never heard of before from locals.

After we arrived we stopped at the Gaelic Experience where our instructor, Tieran, taught us how to play futbol and hurling. It was really interesting to hear how important these sports are to the people of Ireland. Something that I learned that unlike America, every player plays for their county and out of their own will and love for the sport where money is not the motivator or the payoff. I respect that and can appreciate their love of sports.

After playing Gaelic sports we travelled to   our apartment which is really nice and spacious. The city of Dublin is very exciting and I can't wait to see what else is left for us in our short time left here in Ireland.

  1. Your Irish ancestors lived just north in County Louth. Your great-grandfather emigrated in 1901. Your great-grandmother emigrated from Belfast in 1909. Love the blog!
