Hillary-Day 2!

Hello Everyone!

This is my first blog post! I would have written earlier but we had a crazy first day in Ireland full of events such as walking around Galway City and sightseeing the village of a Kinvara, where we are currently staying. This village is a tiny fishing village filled with a lot of great pubs and restaurants. Who knew that pizza could be so good in Kinarva, Ireland!?

After some much needed sleep, we started our day bright and early and traveled to the Burren Park where we saw a lot of great sites. Our first stop was the Kiltaren Gregory Museum where a wonderful sister who spoke to us about literary legend Lady Gregory and her affection for poet, W.B Yeat's works. We were able to tour an old schoolhouse full of articles and memorabilia of Lady Gregory's works and discussed various W.B Yeats poems. It was a wonderful experience that I'm thankful for. Our second stop was Coole Park where we walked around a took pictures with the Autograph tree. The Autograph tree is a famous landmark near Gort, which has various signatures of literary figures that were personal friends with Lady Gregory, such as W.B.Yeats. It was a beautiful site filled with a lot of great landscaping and scenery in the forest.

After traveling through Coole Park, we traveled through Gort, a village with a large Brazilian population which was really interesting because my best friend, Ana Paula, is from São Paulo, Brazil. From Gort, we traveled to a quant restaurant called Cassidy's where we were welcomed by the lovely owners who served us coffee, tea, and scones. The owner's of Cassidy's Caron, Robert, even chatted with us about Irish history specifically about the stone walls that were built by the British that locates parcels of land a well as the origin of Irish surnames. It was a lovely restaurant with beautiful wooden architecture and a great outlook.

Along our way to the cliffs at Moher, our tour guide Barbara stopped by a cemetery to show us rag trees which are pieces of cloth that people attach to trees in hopes that the wind will grant their prayers. It was something that was also very memorable for me.

The actual hike up the cliffs at Moher was an amazing experience. The landscape is breathtaking as each step closer to the peak of the cliff have us better and better views.

We took a lot of pictures before venturing to the other side towards the castle. Afterwards we traveled to a seaside
restaurant and strolled along the bay. It was a beautiful sunny day filled with a lot of exciting literary and historical experiences that I will remember for a lifetime.
