Hillary Day 4- Yesterday in Dublin

Hello from the Edinburgh Airport!
We had such a a wonderful day yesterday that I forgot to post my blog. We started our say with a walking tour of the city of Dublin where we were staying. I woke up early and people watched. It still hits me how different a culture it is from just observing the clothing, cars, and food. I really am taking it all in and I am really appreciative each moment for this opportunity.

From the beginning of our walking tour, we traveled to the Temple Bar area and saw some great shops and lots of tourists from around the world. Our wonderful tour guide Barbara, told us that 120 years ago between 1820 and back to 1729  Dublin was second most important city of the British empire.Everywhere we walked, we would see architecture from this period of time that featured buildings from the financial capital such as mansions with elaborate architecture and remains of court and financial houses.

As we walked further into the city of Dublin, we visited the National Library where we learned more about a famous literary legend, W.B. Yeats as well as famous writer, Oscar Wilde. When Oscar Wilde declared his homosexuality, the conservative people of Ireland were a bit perplexed by what was viewed as his rebellious behavior. I love Oscar Wilde's work so I was interested to learn about this. After our short trip there, we had a bit of free time where a few of us decided to visit the Guinness Factory. It was a cool experience with a pint of Guinness  at the end to top it all off.

Later, we traveled down the street to the Brazen Head Pub and Restaurant where I had yet again another amazing meal and a wonderful live music experience. What a great end to our time in Ireland. It's an experience I will remember forever and will always miss. Now we are off to start our next leg of the trip in Edinburgh. Can't wait to see what is yet to come!
